SANTI CASAS

Santi Casas (@santi.ikari) is an illustrator and colourist based in Barcelona, co-founder of Ikari Studio and a teacher at Escola Joso.

Initially influenced by Japanese manga, he has developed a career spanning both comics and illustration, working for publishers such as Marvel, DC Comics, Dynamite and IDW. As a colourist, he has worked on titles including Ms. Marvel, Wolverine, Legends of the Dark Knight, Batman: Arkham Unhinged, Injustice: Gods Among Us and Arrow. He has also worked as an artist on series such as Ame-Comi Girls and on projects related to Iron Maiden Legacy of the Beast.

His experience also extends to the video game industry, where he has worked in marketing and pre-production on AAA projects, as well as illustrating for tabletop role-playing games and other areas of popular culture. He has also contributed to numerous manga-learning books, some of them published internationally, including The Monster Book of Manga series.

In 2018, he illustrated Red Sonja: La balada de la diosa roja, written by Roy Thomas and created alongside Esteban Maroto, published by Planeta Cómic. The new Red Sonja story combines Casas’ contemporary artwork with Maroto’s classic style. More recently, he has contributed to several volumes of Planeta Manga, including Rondallas and Maldito.
