PEP BROCAL
Pep Brocal (Terrassa, 1967) is a comic artist, writer and illustrator. He began his career in the mid-1980s, publishing in magazines such as Comix Internacional, Totem and Zona 84. He later contributed to Cairo, where he developed the series John Pájaro. In 1995, he received the New Talent Award at the Barcelona International Comic Fair.
Throughout his career, he has worked for publications such as Cavall Fort, Tretzevents, El País and La Vanguardia, and created series including Pep Plom, Els Nàstics and Maurici Bonull. His work combines comics for younger readers with projects aimed at adults, exploring a range of genres and narrative techniques.
His notable works include Cosmonauta (Astiberri, 2017), Inframundo (Astiberri, 2019), Libro de las bestias (Bang Ediciones, 2023), Taxi (Salamandra Graphic, 2024) and Caridad del Río (Garbuix, 2025). This year, he publishes Anatomía de un esqueleto with Astiberri, a graphic novel following the adventures of a comic artist who dies under mysterious circumstances. Blending humour and fantasy, the book explores inspiration, the creative process, the relationship between creators and publishers, and the inner workings of the publishing industry.
