NATALIA VELARDE
Natalia Velarde (@nix.conbotas) is a Venezuelan comic book writer and artist who has been based in Madrid since 2005. She graduated in Fine Arts and has built her career through fanzines and self-publishing.
She is the founder of the self-publishing micro-imprint Tarde y Triste, through which she has published numerous fanzines, including En cucha Ardiendo se Duerme a Ratos, Naguará #1 and #2, Lupercalia, De mayor Dibujante, and Porque tengo que escribir una historia de conejos. She has also coordinated the collective fanzine Vorázine and contributed to several collaborative publications, as well as the French magazine Métal Hurlant.
Last year, she published her first graphic novel, Encías quemadas (Reservoir Books), a dreamlike story about grief and redemption starring Piel de Perro. The book received widespread critical acclaim and has been recognized as one of the standout graphic novels of 2025.
