FLAVITA BANANA

Flavita Banana (Flavia Álvarez-Pedrosa Pruvost, Oviedo, 1987) is an illustrator and cartoonist who has lived in Catalonia since childhood. She studied at Barcelona's Escola Massana and began publishing humorous cartoons at the age of 26, developing a clean, minimalist style that combines irony, warmth, and a critical perspective on human relationships, romantic love, social media, and feminism.

She has contributed to publications including S Moda, Mongolia, Orgullo y Satisfacción, and El País, where she has been regularly publishing editorial cartoons since 2021. She is the author of several books, including Las cosas del querer and the Archivos series. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards, including the Gat Perich International Humour Award (2018), the Gràffica Award (2021), and the Mingote Award (2023), becoming the first—and so far only—woman to receive the latter. Her work has been described as a blend of melancholy humour, social observation, and absurdism.
