Bartolomé Seguí (@bsegui) is a comic artist from Palma who began his professional career in the early 1980s with a comic strip in Metropol. He subsequently contributed to magazines such as El Víbora, Cairo, El Jueves, Madriz and El Pequeño País. He has also illustrated numerous children’s books and co-edited, together with Sònia Delgado, the Catalan-language children’s magazine Esquitx.
His career as a comic author is particularly notable for his collaborations with writers such as Felipe H. Cava, with whom he created Las serpientes ciegas (2008), a work that received the National Comics Award and the Best Work Award at the Barcelona Comics Fair. With Cava, he also published Hágase el caos and Las oscuras manos del olvido, while with Gabi Beltrán he created Historias del barrio, winner of the Ciutat de Palma Comic Award.
Since 2017, working from scripts by Hernán Migoya, he has adapted the first three novels featuring detective Pepe Carvalho, created by Manuel Vázquez Montalbán: Tatuaje (2017), La soledad del mánager (2019) and Los mares del Sur (2021). Alongside his work in comics, he has built an extensive career as an illustrator and has also worked in the press, including the daily comic strip Vuits i Nous for the newspaper Última Hora.
He will receive the Girocòmic Award for his professional career with the collaboration of @giotto_spain, @lyra_feelcreative, @dalerrowney1783, @archespapers, @princetonbrush and @cansonpaper.
