ALBERT MONTEYS
Albert Monteys is best known for his time at @revistaeljueves, where he drew weekly, before the magazine switched to a monthly format, and eventually became its editor.
He had previously published Mondo Lirondo with the collective La Peñya and Calavera lunar as a solo artist, but it was at El Jueves that he gained widespread popularity with Tato, as a solo creator, and ¡Para ti, que eres joven!, created with @manelfontdevilasubirana.
In recent years, his digital series ¡Universo!, published by Panel Syndicate, has stood out in particular. Its first volume won the award for Best Work by a Spanish Author at the Barcelona Comic Fair in 2019, as well as receiving an Eisner Award nomination in 2017 for Best Digital Comic. He is also the author of Solid State (@edicionesgigamesh, 2019), with Matt Fraction and Jonathan Coulton, and the adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five, scripted by Ryan North.
Part of his work is currently also published by Astiberri (@astiberri_ediciones), with whom he has further established his career in author-driven comics.
